Can't find a specific resource? Every material in Subnautica 2 organized by biome, depth, and source type. Find what you need fast.
Scanner Room Tip: Build a Scanner Room and equip the HUD chip to locate specific resources nearby. It's the fastest way to find rare materials.
Common Materials (0–100m)
These are found in the Safe Shallows and Kelp Forest. You'll need lots of them throughout the game.
| Material | Source | Biome | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium | Limestone Outcrop, Metal Salvage | Safe Shallows, everywhere | Most used resource. Break limestone and pick up metal salvage. |
| Copper | Limestone Outcrop | Safe Shallows, Kelp Forest | Needed for wiring and electronics. Always keep a stock. |
| Quartz | Seafloor deposit | Safe Shallows, Caves | Used for glass, which is needed for most modules. |
| Silicone Rubber | Creepvine Seed Cluster | Kelp Forest | Yellow seed pods on tall kelp. Craft from Creepvine seeds. |
| Fiber Mesh | 2x Creepvine Sample | Kelp Forest | Cut Creepvine stalks with knife for samples. |
| Lead | Sandstone Outcrop | Kelp Forest, Grassy Plateaus | Needed for radiation suits and reactor shielding. |
Mid-Range Materials (100–300m)
Found in deeper biomes. You'll need vehicles to collect these efficiently.
| Material | Source | Biome | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | Sandstone Outcrop | Grassy Plateaus, Kelp Caves | Used for Wiring Kits. Often competes with Gold drops. |
| Gold | Sandstone Outcrop, Large Resource Deposit | Grassy Plateaus, Sea Treader Path | Needed for Computer Chips. Save some for late game. |
| Lithium | Seafloor, Shale Outcrop | Mushroom Forest, Sea Treader Path | Plentiful on the Sea Treader Path. Used for plasteel. |
| Diamond | Shale Outcrop | Underwater Islands, Sea Treader Caves | Rare drop from shale. Save for laser cutter and modifications. |
| Magnetite | Seafloor deposit | Underwater Islands, Jellyshroom Cave | Found on the cave floors. Needed for scanner upgrades. |
| Cave Sulfur | Sulfur Plant (after Crashfish) | Kelp Caves, Safe Shallows caves | Lure the Crashfish out, dodge it, then collect from the plant. |
Deep Sea Materials (300m+)
These require Seamoth (depth upgrade) or Prawn Suit to collect. Plan your dives carefully.
| Material | Source | Biome | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kyanite | Large Resource Deposit | Inactive Lava Zone, Lava Lakes | Only found in lava biomes. Need Prawn Drill Arm to harvest deposits. |
| Nickel | Loose nodes, Large Deposit | Lost River, Lava Zone | Blue-green loose nodes on the ground. Needed for depth modules. |
| Ion Cubes | Alien Bases, Precursor Caches | Alien Containment facilities | Purple glowing cubes. Used for advanced crafting and portals. |
| Uraninite | Seafloor deposit, Large Deposit | Lost River, deep caves | Green radioactive ore. Needed for Nuclear Reactor rods. |
| Crystalline Sulfur | Plant nodes | Lost River, Lava Zone | Grows on walls in deep caves. Different from regular Cave Sulfur. |
Deep Dive Warning: Always check your vehicle's depth limit before going after deep materials. A Seamoth without upgrades implodes at 200m. Get the Depth Module Mk1 (300m) first.
Farming Guide: Renewable Resources
Some resources can be farmed infinitely using Exterior Grow Beds and Alien Containments:
| Resource | Method | Growth Time |
|---|---|---|
| Creepvine | Exterior Grow Bed from seed | ~5 minutes |
| Acid Mushroom | Exterior / Interior Grow Bed | ~3 minutes |
| Table Coral | Exterior Grow Bed | ~8 minutes |
| Bladderfish (water) | Alien Containment + release | Breeds over time |
| Peeper (food) | Alien Containment + release | Breeds over time |
Efficiency Tip: Build 2-3 Exterior Grow Beds near your base with Creepvine and Acid Mushrooms. You'll never run out of basic crafting materials.
